Sounds of sorrow
Charles Dickens 1812 ( Portsmouth) – 1870 (Gads Hill Place)
The night is as silent as the dead,
Filled with so much darkness,
The winds and the raging seas are asleep,
And only the dark clouds can bear witness,
But the sound from a breathing man echoes,
A man with many burdens in his heart,
A burden caused by wicked and heartless men,
Men who kill other men just for laughter,
This season of love has become season for sorrow,
The sorrow from betrayal,
The betrayal from a lust mind,
The mind of devil himself,
How long will this night last,
How many shall live to see the light,
And who shall bear witness to this silent sound,
It is the sounds of sorrow from a broken heart.
