Snow Girl

Bounding, bounding, ever bounding.
Charging through the snow;
Sniffing, sniffing, everywhere
As on the hunt she goes;

Tail and rear end wagging,
From side to glorious side;
Happily nosing in frozen mystery,
Leaving nothing a place to hide;

Running, running, at a growing,
An ever furious pace;
The ball, her friendly quarry,
Keeps up in a frantic race;

Hopping, and prancing,
She stops, The ball won't go;
Quizzicly, she braces,
And pushes it through the snow;

My little girl looks up,
At me with a shiny gleem;
All but spent, yet happy,
She's ready to leave, it would seem.
