SCENE FROM THE ISLAND (part 2)

As the sun fled west a multitude
gathered
we sat with bare feet in the surf,
our eyes were drawn to the horizon
where that star sank into the
earth,
and then in the sea a sight to
behold
a silvery path spun through with
gold,
gilded we were in that molten
light
as a day on the island turned
into night.
