Rush in Fall

The squirrel climbs over the fence
Just eight weeks hence
And snow will cover the land
The ocean's waves will freeze the sand.

The squirrel collects the cones
And will cover them like dogs their bones.
Its fur is red like the bark of a pine
All day it is busy to dine.

It has to put on weight
Winter is coming in weeks, maybe eight
The fur is getting thick
The tummy grows big

And it busy jumps from tree to tree
I am watching it with a cup of tea
I wish you luck for the next year
And I will be here
In spring to see
If my squirrel jumps again from tree to tree.
