Remaining

In a world of constant change
You reprimand the clouds for their duplicity
And so they vanish but you remain-
Accursed Earth in her vanity.

Your secret brooks, swell as I live
Having carved the pathways to immortality
I often declined what the Lotus can give
Choosing shadows as easy company.

I am aware a dozen Springs
Have budded only to wilt
Riding beneath a cold ravens wings
Nature destroys what she builds.

The mortar that holds the Pharaohs in death
Dwindles as time aspires
Even Osiris looses to Seth
And mankind looks to new Sires.

At times I have seen the firmament stir
As stars of antiquity fall
Others look to the transient things they prefer
And they walk morose through it all.

But I have my safe enclosure
The one you whittled with care
Protected by unconquerable soldiers
Whose purpose is only to bare-

The implacable safety measure
The gardens of you in mind
Lasting beyond the worlds treasures
In a world that grows more unkind.

My thoughts are Elysian Fields
Where you-have never changed
Twelve winters and still you won't yield
As all vanishes –you fast remain.
