Reflections

Reflections

In my youth, life was about me
What are my limits?
How far can I go?
Who is watching?

I travelled when I found freedom
To go, escape, from now
Visit other lands, find out
By challenging the new

As I grew I discovered, Change
Which lead to finding my Self,
First part of me,
My core

Whites and blacks
With many grays, shadings
Ways, I hid feelings
Blindness I had chosen
Ignorance I had exalted
The causes of my grief

When exposed to the light
It revealed wrongs
Built into me from birth
And I was visited by my future
Visions of how others saw me

I hid my face and cried
For I had wasted my life
In the halls of pleasure
Slithering as the snake

Cursed to understanding
Lacking the wisdom
To give others succor
Or speak a kind thought

In a dream that changed me
The Light revealed more
Renewed my thirst for Love
Blessed me with another chance

Now I know the power of a word
I will not speak it
But for those with eyes
You will see my Truth.
