Rain dance

What if I said
“Just forget about everything you did”?
Flung open the door
And pulled you out... onto the porch instead!

Out into the warm, refreshing rain!
Not a thought, not a doubt!
Just partake of its praise…
And feel its drops, the dews upon your skin!

It makes me feel so alive!
So clean and so pure
How about you? Let’s stop thinking first and be doing!
Now that we are right here

You are always working so very hard, and I’m so far, far away from you
Please! Please! Just don’t think this time
Because, right now…
In this frozen blissful moment…you are completely mine!

Take the step..
And join me...in this...joy
In this…harmony, in this... rain dance

Grasp my hand
And close your beautiful brown eyes…
And maybe for an instant
All the worries, we can leave them behind

To revel, now…in our new found unity of glory
Our arms, like wings to extend
And run, and run, and run
And maybe, just maybe if we pretend

We cannot only fly, but we will soar!
…Into the heavens at twilight
Then…when we finish our descent
You and I, we will be all right

Then, each time
We find ourselves apart
We’ll close our eyes…and imagine
The “Rain Dance”
…Inside forever, in the harmony of our hearts

Nighttiger

A fortyish native born all American man. Married twice and for the last time. I have four children; Three daughters and one son that are all over the age of eighteen. I also have two grandchildren; one three years old and one nine months old. Inspired by God, tragedy, life's experiences and then a fairy tale love. I never intentionally set out to write poetry, but "She" inspired me. "She" meaning the love of my life. That love is a passion that after thirteen years still grows stronger each and every day. It eventually had to be put into writing. As I wrote poetry to her, she encouraged me to approach other subjects. Doing so brought me to discover that poetry could wash away the bitter tastes of life (suicide, cancer, and divorce) that were still living like demons inside me. So when poetic therapy brought those impish fiends to a stalemate, I began to experiment more. Creating fictional characters and situations within my works. The support of this online community has inspired me even further to continue to hone my writing skills giving the readers the best that I can offer. Thanks to all you out there in Lulu land. more…
