Over The Horizon
Speeding down the freeway on a Sunday
Afternoon…I'll get out of this sh*tty city…someday
Speaking my mind…all the time
Even if some of my words are unkind
Seeing past all the phony trends
Reconnecting with old friends
Shedding away the last of my second skin
Cause' I don't ever want to be reminded of where I've been
Always looking ahead and never looking backwards
Just let the past stay buried were your exact words
Knowing that destiny is not out of my range
Realizing I will not be forever deranged…and that I can and will change
I can't remember the first time I started to lose faith
But I'm folding all my clothes and packing it into a suitcase
Holding her hand for one last time at the airport
Blowing smoke out my nose as I finish my last pack of Newport
It's always raining when I look outside my window
Classic rock on the radio and sixteen scented candles
Something is ticking in my head again
And somehow I'm fixated on death again
It's always changing, the seasons, they come and go
Why can't some things stay the same, I want to know
Nothing ever turns out the way you hope it would
And I'd gladly turn back the hands of time if I could
Looking over the horizon
And seeing the long forgotten shadow of the blue moon rising
Learning to forgive others as well as myself
And learning to ask for it when I need help
Yearning to be by her side once again
I'll always remember that faithful month we spent
I'm hurting on the inside and sighing on the out
But all these f*ck*d up thoughts in my head…I can live without
Speeding down the freeway on a Monday
Morning…I'll get out of this sh*tty city someday
Sleeping through the same old b*llsh*t in broad daylight
Waiting for the sun to fall, so I can arise at midnight
