One True Love

In my room,
sitting here thinking of you.
My feelings hidden in costume.
Missing what we used to do.

The memories come flooding back,
just like the river of tears.
You not here is what I lack,
like the fun we haven't had in years.

I thought you were my one true love,
and one true love you were.
I did not know what you were sick of,
the days passed by in a blur.

One night came a knock on my door,
not knowing who it was.
They told me that you were no more,
Then there was a long pause.

More words spilled from their lips,
bringing my heart to the ground.
They sounded as if they were scripts.
As I stood not making a sound.

Then once they left,
The tears came flooding down.
Losing you was like a theft.
Now no use for my wedding gown.

Now instead my dress was black,
which I wore the next day.
I saw your name on a plaque,
Right next to where your body lay.

More tears came running down my face,
as you were lowered to your grave.
But now you were in a good place,
so I knew I had to be brave.

Before you passed you made me swear,
to keep living my life as best I could.
And so I did for you were there,
and for you I knew I should.

Today I am happy once more,
because I have moved on.
Just for you because I knew I swore,
that I would be once you were gone.

Although you're always on my mind,
I know you are still with me.
And with that thought my heart will find,
Another love, and together we shall be.
