ode to Jallianwala bagh

I see people fall and rise, in their deeds of choice
I recollect April, month of disaster embarked in my country,
Fear was ruled out by fury rages, forgetting the relations
I recollect the days of suppression by the English.
City welcomed the seasonal change in bliss,
But few welcomed it in rage to leave the place in vivacious barbarism,
Not given a chance to speak, raised hands chopped off, crossed head met ground.
Accepting the change but a few rebelled,
Wanted to rule away monarchy, wanted democracy.
I recollect English general and his pride,
The holy place of worship in the gardens of Punjab, never dreamt of this nightmare.
A religious place of echoing lord's name pleaded a chance to be deaf.
Mother earth stayed helpless in the brutality of human kind,
A religious meet was mistaken for conspiracy or was it a chance to show the power?
I recollect people running for spirit to live
I recollect woman, who carried the youth of nation,
I recollect the young lads crying innocence and ignorant of chaos.
They ran and ran and ran….
I still hold the remnants of the picture,
The old, the young, the matured and the nature pleaded for one chance to escape.
Thousand rounds of bullets flew in the atmosphere tearing the bodies,
Blood spurt down in anxiety to meet their motherland and be named as “AMAR JAWAN”
I recollect the evil laugh of the English who enjoyed the bliss of the massacre.
Tears flooded the place,
My country's soil was drenched in the color of its patriots.
I still feel the place, I still feel the rage, I recollect the patriots,
Remember them, honor them, have pride of sharing land where they stayed
Jai hind
