No One Lives Here

No one lives here anymore:
no footsteps in the halls,
no greetings from an open door, no photos on the walls.

No one lives here anymore:
no smells of baking stew,
no tables set for just one more, no coffee left to brew.

No one lives here anymore:
no fragrance scents the room,
no fine bouquets grace the decor, no flowers are in bloom.

No one lives here anymore:
no laughter fills the house,
no bedtime stories to explore, no fireplace flames to douse.

No one lives here anymore:
no times to celebrate,
no fun surprises wait in store, no wants to satiate.

No one lives here anymore:
no neighbors to abet,
no loving family to adore, no animals to pet.
