My shade of gray
I've been slacking lately
not in the mood, not myself.
Kind of a lazy, not yet lively
enough to feel alright:
A figurine on a museum shelf.
Some days come with excitement.
Some days fit like brand new shoes.
Sometimes I feel the need
to cry-out a lament -- listening for boos,
or whomsoever would hear my plead.
I have moments that are whimsical,
and could be thought sort of crazy.
Those are days of hopeful miracles,
that leave me likeable as a Spring daisy,
or cheerful as a big red rose that glows.
What makes my mood shift drastically?
Sometimes twice a day and then goes away.
Leaving me not wanting to be socially
inclined, wasting away with nothing to say;
never caring at all about my shade of gray.
In those moments I find myself a place to nap,
to read a book. to wonder where I'm at today.
Sleep doesn't usually come; that is always crap.
So I lay there with a thousand-mile-stare
watching the sun, or gray skies, lazily change my day.
Always I find time to spend with you.
no matter my feelings given red, white, and blue.
Not a clue what I should do, as your love is so true,
that it staggers all my emotions bringing on the night,
an bringing on all my dreams of you.
