Lost Hope

Hope is like a translucent veil cast over my eyes.
It hides the darkness and shadows from me.

The veil is torn away.
I see the darkness.
It is all around me.
Calls to me, whispers my name.
It knows me, moves in, surrounds me.
I can't fight it anymore, it drains me.
I reach my hand out for help, I am cut.
I pull back, sinking deeper into despair.

The blood flows from my wound.
The darkness seeps in.
It's cold, and without feeling.
It consumes my soul.
The light slips from my eyes,
and all hope fades from sight.

I let the darkness take me.

As I fall into shadow, I see flashes.
Of what once was, can be, will never be.
I look away. The pain hurts my eyes.
The veil is torn away.

I let the darkness take me.
