Lest I Die

It is amour propre and
Downright partial,
That is why
I am not an apple in God's eyes.
I have it all to give--unconditionally
To all that I owe it to--only
For life,
Lest I die untrue to myself.
And to all that shares it with me,
I am forever grateful...yes, you
My Nanay and Tatay...yes, you
My brothers and sisters. And yes, you
My loving wife and equally loving children.
How noble it would be--to give it away
Sometime--unselfishly and impartially!
But I am not my God. And--conditionally,
I am at peace with myself.
