Jessie

I never should have let you go
that summer night,
the one (you know)
where I held you high and called you angel
kissed you softly
our hearts entangled
if only it had lasted longer
my faith in love would have grown stronger
I felt your face through the telephone
most every night and morning
and though I couldn't stay awake
you'd listen to my snoring
I can't believe that I was such a fool
I should have been better
I wish that I was good for you
and now my curse is simple
I miss your love every day
as we orbit the universe
we're bound to pass once
in a long while and drift away
I love you so much,
I can't even find the speech
I'm trying still to be
the one you want
but I know there's no possibility
I'm happy to be all alone
as long as I'm allowed to dream of you
Torture sometimes,
still I live to fall asleep
and feel the only love of mine
I knew was true
