In The Graces Of Thalia

The lure is green and frankly,
Quite inviting, and it's the only constant--
Making and keeping
The Torch lit--in the dark of night and day.
For almost half my lifetime now,
I confess that I haven't really laid eyes on
Thalia, for me to care, like I used to--
In the days of yore--in my two separate worlds,
Under the glare of two distinct suns,
Much to my regret and deep personal loss.
The masterpieces of ages past (for sheer
Love of the art (poesy), I placed on my lap
Dreaming...with an eye on the prize.
I prayed hard to hit the target--
Bulls-eye, but other "fools"
Supercilious in their display...always,
Always end up hauling and laughing--
All the way....and my dreaming shall go on
And on, hoping of course, that I remain
In the graces of Thalia.
