I Want to Cuddle You

All day long I worked on heavy machines.
I open the back door, I'm tired. I call:
Julie, Juliet where are you?

The aspens alone answer in the wind.
Your cookbook and apron just put down,
The prairie sun shines in on your recipes;
The timer does not even speak its mind.

Room upon room,I go around searching.
You are not here.
Suddenly, I feel so lonesome.
Julie, Juliet where are you?

Then I see you in a sunlit doorway, Relaxing under the silver maple tree
With woven picnic basket on your lap.

The saddled horses and you look; you
Smile and I hear the doves cooing our song.

You tell me my boots could use some repair;
The columbine and daisies need a trim.
You mention things, but I look into your Eyes - I want to cuddle you into my arms.
