I Cant Change Who I Am

When you found out I was gay,
you were ashamed.
Ashamed of me, and who I turned out to be.
But I am still me.
You told me to change,
but I can't change who I am.
I can't change who I love.
I was born this way,
I tried to hide, who I was,
but I was just living a lie.
I didn't turn out like you wanted.
I'm sorry dad, but I am who I am.
And even though you don't accept who I am,
I will not pretend to be,
who you want me to be.
For I have to be true,
to me.
