How She Cries
There are many memories that have long since been forgotten
Like the first breath, first sight, and first steps
The first time you slipped your toes into warm dewy grass and besotted
Slid your hands across the earth like raindrops on a spider web
She was your first love, yet you left her for your wires and convenience
You spend your days as a zombie
And lonely nights just the same
As the poison ever slowly numbs your body
You are ashamed, alone, dissatisfied, left in a void so deep and dark
You have gagged and bound that thing beneath you
Burdened her with layers of concrete and iron bars
Yet you show her off in national parks like animals in a zoo
She screams in agony and burden and she pleads
Begging you to stop killing her, to rescue her
Yet you unknowingly kill her at an ever increasing speed
All because of your ignorance and greed, you destroy her
You say you are connected yet you are so very far from it
You have forgotten your first love
But she has not forgotten you
