Hold Back My Tears

I remember the very day we met.
In fact, never has a memory been so clear.
Nothing had been going right.
Then suddenly, you're there.

We were such close friends,
It was not to be believed.
We even fell hopelessly in love.
But I only ended up deceived.

You said you deeply loved me.
I'm convinced that was a lie.
One day you want to be with me.
The next, you say, "Good-bye."

Then here she comes,
Out of the blue.
A promise it wouldn't happen fast?Who hurt me ever so badly? You.

It's been three dragging days.
But this sadness will not cease.
As badly as you hurt me,
Will you be mine again, please?

I miss my fingers in your hair,
The way you always asked, "What's wrong?".
I missed our hands secretly intertwined.
You led me to believe together was where we belonged.

I will try to realize I'm not the one.
I shall try to accept this lie.
But what I will not do is hold back my tears,
For all I know how to do is cry.

I hope she leaves you right away.
I hope she decides to flee.
I hope she rips your heart out.
I hope you come running back to me.

As brutal as that is to say,
Every word is true.
But what's the truest fat of all?
I will always love you.
