Her Beauty

Her beauty hits me
like and unrelenting storm
come so suddenly
and yet it had been there
for so long swirling
and spiraling and developing
into ominous clouds.
Where were the warning signs?
On call weather service
dropped the ball.
No sudden alerts flashing
across the TV screen,
no dark clouds approaching
slowly off the gulf.
The gail slammed me down
from above and
I was caught unprepared.
Windows open
raincoat hanging neatly
on the coat rack,
heartstrings flapping
in the wind.

It passes just as suddenly
and I am left still
standing
rain soaked
heart choked
by her beauty.
