Grief's A Personal Pain

At the core of your heart,
an emptiness persists.
I cannot feel your hurt,
yet I know it exists.

And though I share your loss,
grief's a personal pain.
It straddles the edge,
between sane and insane.

I cannot dry your tears,
or take sadness away.
Depression's all too real,
but it's not here to stay.

I will not lie and say
things will be as before.
It takes time to accept
you will see him no more.

Rely upon your faith,
to guide you to its source.
We must all confront death,
it's a natural course.

I offer you solace,
when reality looks stark.
A friend with a match,
to strike against the dark.

Many of my poems reflect the uniqueness and special circumstances of my upbringing. more…
