I Truly Believed

Lies cloud my mind and suddenly,
my future is no longer clear.
And hurt by betrayal and deceit,
I'm on the verge of a tear.

Infatuated with your smile,
I truly believed you loved me.
Then a jolt of reality,
showed what I didn't want to see.

We shared such intimate moments,
that all my doubts would go away.
Yet you were only using me,
and quickly led my heart astray.

A caldron of raw emotions,
erupted with molten fury.
And facing an onslaught of hurts,
anger sat as judge and jury.

Yet despite my trepidations,
I miss your charisma and charm.
And though it's hard to forget you,
it's harder to forgive the harm.

Many of my poems reflect the uniqueness and special circumstances of my upbringing. more…
