Golden Years

A better time, the golden years
Where men wore suits daily
And the ladies, dresses
Where cars were land yachts
And global warming not even a thought
On young Al Gore's mind.
Where work was easy to find
And wages were liveable
Families were nuclear,
And so was the warfare
Stories were told on the radio
Instead of commercials about impotency
Alas, circumstances have chained me
To a millenium body
When my heart is made of gold
And until someone figures out
That blasted time travel
I'll be stuck with my old records
And wonder what it would be like
To be a child of that golden age

Jevon Pope

I mostly write when I'm unhappy, as it gives me a vent to let go of the negativity. So my apologies that very few are happy. Enjoy. More poems can be found on somewhatidyllic.wordpress.com more…
