Glory Days

Sometimes when it's late I'm laying in bed,
And all these memories roll into my head,
I think back to the days gone past,
Man, back then I really had a blast,

When I was eighteen, I'd had enough of home,
So I headed down south on my steed of chrome,
I wound up in the southern Utah heat,
Wild and free, a feeling you just can't beat,

I rented my own place off Riverside Drive,
A one room apartment, enough for me to thrive,
The power wasn't on yet, and I didn't have a bed,
I played my guitar and sat on the floor instead,

The money got tight in early July,
So I sold my plasma, to get by,
It was worth it to live my life for me,
'Cause there was nothing like being free,

I spent my days by my poolside,
At night, I'd climb in my stang and ride,
I'd drive out of town and lay on my hood,
Gazing up at the stars, I'd never felt so good,

I loved the warmth of those summer nights,
I loved the buzz of the street lights,
I'd listen to the crickets chirp in the eve,
I never wanted to have to leave,

Driving around Foremaster late at night,
Watching the Virgin River reflect the moonlight,
I dated around, kisses sweet,
Summer nights in my backseat,

I swore I'd live my life these ways,
Back there in my young rebel days,
I didn't always do right, it wasn't always easy,
But I was living without regrets, carefree,

Sometimes a boy has to rebel some,
And make mistakes that are downright dumb,
Back in my days of playing music too loud,
And being too conceited and proud,

With the top down in my Mustang,
I'd crank up the stereo as I sang,
Along to Hinder Bon Jovi, Buckcherry,
Black Sabbath, Kiss, and AC DC,

Up on Dixie Rock, I'd spend the sunset,
Here in the heart of the State of Deseret,
The temple down in the center of the town,
A beacon of light and hope, Dixie's crown,

Those were my gypsy heart days gone past,
Freedom to do what I wanted, unsurpassed,
But all good things must come to an end,
I had to ride away with a northbound wind,

But those days will always hold a place in my heart,
When I was young and reckless, not so smart,
I can't think of much I could truly regret,
They pass you by, but glory days I'll never forget.
