Drained

Andy Lyle 1951 (Londonderry)

No one can see or feel the pain
That I have got inside
So great it is my agony
It seems like someone died

I think I know just who it is
And if you look into my eyes you'll see
That the person who has passed away
You're right that person was me

I have had my life removed
From right before my eyes
Plucked from me in a depressed state
How come I didn't die

I'll never know what stopped me from
The path I was about to tread
But the weight was taken from me
If not I would be dead

I still am in a muddle
As I search through my mind
I am trying the best I can
Some happiness to find

To help me from this darkened bed
Where I find solitude
I know I'm safe here when I sleep
And no one can intrude
