Darkness Blight

Searching for light in a darkness
That surrounds and smothers
Men, women and children alike
Each light, having different forms
and brilliance, leading the way to
Illuminated paths within sight

Different, yet alike, in so many ways
Souls toil alone in a journey
Seeking singular, quick delight
Grasping at the fleeting orbs
Seeking answers for infinite questions
Finding turmoil in a darkness blight

Darkness abounds day and night
While souls wander aimlessly
Learning, hopefully, in their plight
That light shared in the darkness
With family and friends
Will more appease their appetite
