Comfort Food

First you find
That nice, soft bread
Get that peanut butter
Ready to spread
Got to be crunchy
Creamy won't do
Find the knife
Then spread it
Thick and slow
Get your other slice
Find your favorite jam
Cherries with berries
Is the kind for me
Apple slices on the side
And Ice cold milk
To wash it down
Comfort food, indeed

Allen Lucas

Live, work, and play in South Central Idaho. Have a military background, been to a few different places in the world. Raised 5 kids, 9 grandchildren, of those 9, I have had the sorrow of burying two of them. God gives, God takes. I believe that life is what you make of it, I don't believe in luck. Attitude is everything, mine is positive. Life goes on weather you want it to, or not. My poetry is what pops out of my head, usually takes less than 5 minutes to get out of my head and on to paper. I dont try and second guess myself, I write as it comes out of my mind, then I leave it alone, no editing. Editing ruins poetry, at least mine. more…
