Cabaret

You don't really feel
What's in my heart and soul
You think that this is real
I'm in complete control.
You don't really see
Through the broken glass
Open up your eyes
Look into the past.
You don't really hear
What I'm trying to say
What is it that you fear
When my words, they come your way.
Are you afraid that I
May damage you somehow
That my pain and anger
May leave your love in doubt.
You continue to pretend
That we are both okay
For in your world of fiction
Our life's a cabaret.
