Business as Usual

You see that Satan's carriage
wheels it's way on down our lane,
but you're not willing to make a change . . .
and who would in the momentum of modern day?
I can't blame you for killing the myths,
but will you at least admit
the striking resemblance.
I can't blame you for avoiding the truth, but let's not be ridiculous . . .
the arrows are aiming at doom,
the horsemen are mounted and poised,
the hour hand is fatigued and subdued.
I can see it in every face, in every empty set of eyes.
The shells of existence
hunched and dragging themselves
toward universal, eternal demise . . .
but do dabble on,
painting your archaeological mural.
All of humanity's accomplishments are at best
points of a new species' referral.
Business as usual
until a dead halt in both supply and demand.
Since a consumer is necessary in consumption
and man-made products must be fashioned by man.
