Beside Humility
Love, its sweet essence of fiery passion,
compassion is blended into the flames,
it travels behind sight as I follow
my eyes across windy plains of solitude.
Strength of thought from you:
my sweet mother earth,
flows ahead of my blood while desire
in dreams washes over each step I place
on your soil so soft yet dark.
Alive, I whisper to the feathered life
I see and hear around my steps.
Dead I cry as I return my thoughts
to the race where I belong.
A tear shedding to those whose bodies rot
in burning heat so many miles away
and a plea for mercy to the ones
who've yet to die in pain beside humility.
This poet's in an age of lost imaginings,
this man dreams of travelling
through time to meet another age
where the air I drink is pure.
I free my own humility and pain
to soothe the planet's wrath
yet in a place so sad I still
find time to release wild smiles,
and to taste pleasures of love,
to watch the animals and children
play together in harmony so very rare,
and to watch the morning sun's rays
flutter its warm breath on our pride,
o' how we waste life and burn so quickly.
Slow down, but no one hears
or no one cares, so sad I still find time to smile.
