Beautiful Butterfly

A beautiful butterfly red, gold, and black.
Flutters it's wings as it's under attack.

No one can hear it, as it screams.

Struggling to escape.

Trapped inside a four walled box.
There beside it a sly red fox.

Why do you struggle to get away?
When all day long I tell you to stay.

I'm just your puppet, you hold the strings.
I'm pretty to look at, I'm fragile, and naive.
I'm like a trophy stuck up on your shelf.
I'm getting dusty and losing myself.

I need the sunshine.
I need sweet air.
I need to spread my wings before they tare.

If I let you go, you'd never return.
So, I'll shackle you down and make you learn.

This is where you will always be.
Locked in this box for only me to see.

She hopes for that one special day.
That she will spread her wings and fly away....
