Amaryllis

Thus, the clock reaches 11:59
A reminder-you, for never thine
Craving each ray of sunshine
One amaryllis freezes at the foot of a pine
Strangled by thy relentless vine
And hidden by a large branch line
Slowly withering away, stealing away its shine
Losing the succulence of red wine
Harsh winters never proving divine
Cold and heartless in each snow line
Oh, amaryllis submersed in a brine
Bloom once more and show us a sign
Has this passion taken a decline?
Is it all but benign?
Given to thee when love and fate combine?
Oh, amaryllis why won't you shine?
Lift us up to the brim of cloud nine.
