In the evening, Amanda often hastily came to the Egyptian restaurant, overlooking the sea. She would arrive with her gypsy, Italian pampered dalliance and a carnation hidden in the palm of her quivering hand. Her loquacious American friend and her absentmindedness came along with her… Whenever Amanda and her friend left the restaurant, they did so stealthily: (along with) her Italian dalliance, a carnation hidden in the palm of her quivering hand, and her absentmindedness
