A Shimmer Of Love

A shimmer of love was all she needed
The kindness that could be given from my
heart
A kind thought that might pass through my
lips and into her heart
Unwilling to let her smooth the sharp flint
heart of mine
Unknowing of her illness, I was cruel and
withholding of love
I never wanted her to slip away from me
Never knowing of her true value
Always thinking that more days were ahead
And now I live in regret for before that
day I worded only hate
And unfairly hurtful pain
If only I had opened my sight!
I would spread shimmiring love
Throughout the days and the deep black
ocean nights.
