A North Dakotan
A North Dakotan by Fred M. Lassonde
Well up near the Canadian Line
We know how to have our fun
Most of us know about the Combine
Harvest many things under the Sun
Grow Wheat, Corn and Potatoes too
Also Beets, Barley, Canola and Oats
Various plants just named a few
We also raise Cattle and Billy Goats
We have many and various talented Folk
Good natured, God fearing and that's no joke
Lately we have had to make a lot of room
Welcome many an outsider for the Oil Boom
But we born here do not live in fear
We hold on to Freedom and all that's Dear
Independence is not a stranger here
Hold Dear our Old Folks and Yesteryear
We still go a huntin, fishin and a Boatin
Our Children knows us and we know them
Do tell I am proud to be a North Dakotan
I hope you know it after reading this Poem
