A Letter to Borno
I feel sad, as the conditions you live is hard
In such a distance, far and desolate.
The sun I believe is hot
And the weather harsh and hurts
In a land where people for religion hate
Where flies sting as the sun heats.
But comfort yourself as you remember
What the poet of old reminds
A man can a place heaven or hell make
Take heart therefore in this
Time is fast and days flying
You have not gone to Borno to stay
You will soon with us be here.
I shall wait and smile
The day you arrive
To hug and drink and romp
That you have survived the rigors of duty
Lay this upon your heart
The anguish and sorrows shall vanish
While your strength and courage remains.
