18 Years

18 years of life, how did it all begin,
18 years of fights, that will never end,

18 years of love, in the midst of all the pain,
18 years of hugs, and so much more to gain,

18 years of bad luck, but good luck also came,
18 years of success, but at times there came shame,

18 years of growing up, each and everyday,
18 years of smart back-talking, from things I shouldn't say,

18 years of laughs and smiles, and also tears and cries,
18 years of joy and happiness, and also truths and lies,

18 years of hanging out, with all my family and friends,
18 years of showing out, just to get one laugh in,

18 years of headaches and pains, that may never go away,
18 years of strong surviving, no matter what people say,

18 years of many let downs, from people that I should trust,
18 years of phony love, that should only be described as lust,

18 years of showing strength, to never lose a fight,
18 years of praying and hoping everything will be alright.
