The Best of its Kind

You’re knees touch the ground,
You feel like you’ve lost;
You’re heart’s clenching
You’re gasping for breath,
Your tears have stopped,
It’s just the pain.  
Each breath,
A little shakier,
You feel.
You feel that love
That you let slip
From the delicate crevices
Of your hands.
That love that you were promised
That was going to sustain you.
You gasp again, loud and deep
You embrace yourself.
Cheers! A companion,
Like no other.
A little broken,
But still holding on.
You’re eyes hurt,
You feel disgruntled
But that’s the beauty of pain,
Incapacitating you, a beautiful feeling.
Then you realise, it’s just you
And it has only been you,
Through the pain and the happiness,
You’re your own company,
The best of its kind.
