The Forest

This forest is intricate, illusions never cease.
I was hoping to get to a clearing, at least.
But I'm lost, my love and I separate.
The longer I brave the cold nights,
the more I grow desperate.

I wander past the trees,
Their branches uneasily sway.
I hear a voice, is it her I hear?
It was only a bird, I continue my way.

I miss her, I do.
More than anything that exists.
I know she's searching, too.
That's why I persist.
So I'll follow the trees
that lead to no end.
I know I will reach her.
Until that moment, myself I shall fend.
