You Know Better

Paloma Periera 1988 (Los Angeles.)

A Southern Belle can get along
anywhere a smile greets her
Atop the bones of the unknown
She’ll make a home
And find a preacher.

There’s holy water in the Gulf she’s told
And no taxes on her purity
Indifferent with impunity.
A service for your every need.

Nameless are those
No passport, unknown.

Bypassing, spiritually,
and with exemplary pedigree,
One may do as they may
Sham pose on Saturday
Chauffeured for comforts sake.

Validated by the reality
She’s “manifested”, it’s destined
a commercial break
From the crushing weight
that would upend it.

Nameless are those
No passport, unknown.
