Chaos

Dan Hatcher 1955 (Mississippi)

What is Chaos
I asked myself?
With it all around me
Within me, Chaos.
I shy'd away
Looking for peace
I hid, not wanting
Wanting to be found.
Relentless it came
This Chaos
Nipping at my hills
Barking at my back
Yet it was in my face
Scolding, sneering
Laughing at me
Cold, chilling
I felt afraid!
Then I mustered the strength
And said
"Not Today"
Old friend.
I laid Chaos to rest
That day...
It died
I cried for joy though,
No one knew..
