To Why I Write

To Why I Write...

I talk.
I speak.
To you,
To me,
To whoever listens.

I have a dream of ideas that jam
In my brain or is it my soul
Or both and when I begin to write
The dam explodes
The water rushes
The ideas cascade.
I have to paddle fast down on paper
Or I drown in the flow.

I write and swim through the dark
Depths of my thoughts.
I write to get to shore to save
You or me or maybe just to swim.

I backstroke,
Penstroke,
Butterfly and crawl
Upon waves of joy,
Sometimes pain
Sometimes waves of regret.

I write to the world because I have a voice
I want to be heard
To be valid
I want to make music from moments.

I write to share my DNA with the world.
I write to buzz and zap along highways of electrical currents.
I write to the sheer madness of lunacy.

I write to heal, to see, to breathe,
To rattle and hum
In the tempo of time.

I write to hug the world and leave
Gifts of provacative proclivities.

I write to the hearts of men,
The hearts of darkness,
To overcome lives of quiet desperation

I write to live
To exercise my humanity and mythology
I write to please my Maker
To use the gifts given by God.
