The Beast Within Me

I did not know you
but you threw yourself at me.
You are a deadly beast
yet my body welcomed you like a prodigal son.
My voice's hoarseness
was your first treacherous attack.
I embraced the weight loss
but loathed the mass gain.
You dethroned me,
hair loss my penance.
Fever and fatigue was my constant companion.
Coughing and frequent infections
held my hand the whole journey.
The elevated heart rate felt like love
but it was your poisonous invasion.
Your presence is worse than the plague
PLEASE just take my cancer away.
