Hopeless

Jase Lucero Pinski 2003 (Great Falls)

I am just a hopeless boy, chasing a hopeless girl
Dreaming we would dance together, take your arm and give you a twirl
I’ve always wanted to tell you I love you
 But I didn’t know what you’d do
I would always say
“Today’s the day!”
But it never ended up being true
Then one day I walked up to your door
My eyes never left the floor
I had been practicing what I needed to say
I soon got my answer when I was told you had moved away
We both grew up in a different place
All while holding onto the memory of your face
When suddenly I got the news that you were in a coma
I caught whiff of fears bitter aroma
I drove way down to where you were at
Sat down in your hospital room and took off my hat
I watch you lay motionless in bed
Until the doctor came in and said
A horrifying thing that filled me with fright
He said you wouldn’t survive the night
Hopeless, hopeless is everything
We never shared a dance, I’ve never heard you sing
We never took a drive down by lake
Never shared a slice of birthday cake
Then I felt a touch on my arm
One I knew meant no harm
I looked up to see you standing there
Beautiful body, sweet eyes, and hair
Ten months later we shared our first kiss
I learned a lessonNEVER SAY HOPELESS
