This Woman’s Curse

At war with my body since the age of ten,
I fear that it may never end
Fourth grade on the playground, tiny mounds of breast
A Jealous schoolmate points out my heft
Scissors cut away this fleshy torso, braces wrench this smile to acceptable places.
Crying for worth from this shamed body, make me beautiful PLEASE, I feel I will die if not a hottie
An aging woman now who cannot conceal
My zest for life came from tequila
I drank to conceal my feared rejection
Drank to feel joy and hope for connection
Reflection of a woman whose lost true perspective
This shell of myself never saw my perfection
My most precious joy, two baby boys!
A mother must be better, this mother could be worse
So grateful they won’t bare this woman’s curse❤️
