An empty shell

Sitting before you is not a person but an empty shell. An empty shell with nothing but a heart and soul. The shell keeps these close and guarded because it's all the shell has, it's all the shell is. One day, the shell met a bird. The most attractive and magnificent bird the shell had ever seen. The shell not thinking it was ever meant to be loved, the shell still fell in love with the bird and surprisingly the bird with the shell. The shell never thought it would be good enough for the magnificent bird. But it would do anything it could to try and be good enough for such and amazing, attractive and magnificent bird. The shell was starting to feel more. Feel like they aren't just an empty shell. The shell made a decision to give it's heart and soul to the bird. The shell felt like they could trust the bird to cherish and take care of it's heart and soul. Doing this the shell gave the bird everything and all that it was, In return the shell was filled with love, affection, care and support. The shell gave the bird the same and the shell started to feel whole. Like the shell was always meant to be more than just an empty and fragmented shell. The shell began to feel things and see things like it has never seen before. Colors, like never seen. Bright pinks and hues of red. Perfect lavender and happy shades of yellow. When before, all the shell saw was black, white and muted grays. Everything smelled amazing, life felt so much better and every day was beautiful. Like the shell could see everything clearly and the world finally made sense. The shell was whole and had found it's one true home with the bird. The bird was the shells biggest comfort and biggest source of happiness. The shell felt happy not being empty, fragmented and alone. The shell wanted nothing more then to love and give affection and take care of the bird for the rest of it's life. But on a day that wasn't as beautiful, the bird flew away. Taking with it the shells heart and soul and everything it was. The shell became confused, the shell loved the bird with it's everything. The shell loved the bird unconditionally. The shell was always by the birds side no matter what. But the bird flew away. And the shell started to feel empty again. Except this time the shell had no heart and soul. The colors turned from bright and beautiful back to its original muted hues. The shell was completely and utterly empty. The shell begins to crack and the pieces begin to break and fall away. The shell was almost no more. Now, sitting before you is not a person but an empty shell. An empty shell with not even a heart and soul to keep it together. An empty shell that wishes to feel whole. An empty shell that will soon turn to dust. Maybe the empty shell was always meant to stay an empty shell.
