When Two Paths Part
Donald James Kirby Von Koehler 1965 (Burien)
When Two Paths Part
When you've journeyed together for many years you become accustomed to a routine,
for many of us a change of direction leads to the unknown and an awkward scene.
How do I do this gracefully when inside you feel betrayed and trust is gone,
Though yes it is painful it's also possible to rise up and just move on.
If both parties agree they are heading in two separate directions so far apart,
separation is better for each to be happy to do what's right in your heart.
I am going through this and I know I wouldn't wish on myself times so sad,
so to be fair neither will I wish it on them or harbor the thoughts so mad.
When Two Paths Part-Sometimes it's a part of your expansion into better things,
when neither one is happy together despair is all that it's able to bring.
When Two Paths Part-Friends still is a choice that can be made if there's the will to.
Time will heal all wounds and more doors will open up as the past ones close to you.
Though many feel resentment and pain they say it's too hard to stay friends,
maybe it's easier to recall you both made it through many of lifes' bends.
Somewhere you still care as a friend though very disappointed it didn't work out,
but sometimes it's ok to realize it wasn't meant to learning is what life's about.
They taught you clearly what you don't want in your life and you grew from the experience,
even though while seeing red this point of view may make to you very little sense.
you have a better idea what qualities they had that attracted you to them to start,
so there are clues to go on in this quest to discover what now is in your heart.
When Two Paths Part-Just remember they are not perfect none of us truly are,
Let them go in peace if it's right-you can always catch the next passing star.
When Two Paths Part-resolve to work together through this one last thing as two,
grudges are harder to hold towards someone if see them as a released part of you.
