Died for Love

Belkis Martinez 1973 (Pennsylvania)

In the park, where I dwell.
I met a guy I loved so well,
He took my heart away from me,
Now he's gone and set me free.
One day he sat a girl on his knees
He told her things he never told me.
Now I know the reason why,
She was prettier than I.
I ran back home I cried in bed,
Not a word to mother was said.
Father came late that night,
He searched for me from left to right.
He reached my room and opened the door
He saw me hanging from a cord.
He looked for something to cut me down
And on my dresser this note was found...
Sorry dad for what I've done,
I once knew love but now is gone.
On my casket place a dove,
To show the world I died for love

Belkis Martinez

I had been writing since 3rd grade. This poem has forever remained engraved in my mental. I have several poems published online but can't seem to find them on poetry.com. I reside in Pennsylvania, where I have been continuously writing. There aren't any poetry spots or coffee houses like in New York or New Jersey. Poetry and spoken word will always be my first love more…
