A Letter From My Ego
Sarah Eve 2003 (Rolla)
Dear world, you might just see me as an ordinary girl with oily hair and acne.
But I am so much more than what you choose to see.
I have stormy blue eyes
that crash and churn
with every new piece
of knowledge that I learn
from the raging world
surrounding my earthly flesh
with anger and destruction
that causes my sensitive soul to thrash
With disruption and denial
Because I don’t want to accept that I
The epitome of perfection has to live in
A world full of hate and lies.
Dear world, you might just see me as an ordinary girl with oily hair and acne.
But I am so much more than what you choose to see.
I have stood up and faced the horrors
when I wish I could flee
I have held the sickness in my palms
of a dysfunctional family
That forced me to climb a mountain
of knives in my back
and somehow still manage
to keep my life on track
and succeed where many couldn't. and
now my muscles are tired and fragile
because I single-handedly dragged my depression
back across the starting line and through the gates of hell.
Dear world, you might just see me as an ordinary girl with oily hair and acne.
But I am so much more than what you choose to see.
I feed my hungry brain with
the most delectable facts
and mold the knowledge to fill in
the cracks
from the earthquake
caused by my thundering soul and
I watered the fruits of my rage
in the Eden that was stolen
I flashed my smile in the sun
in the hair on my arm salutes
the future challenge that I must overcome
and the things I will have to do.
Dear world, you might just see me as an ordinary girl with oily hair and acne.
But I am so much more than what you choose to see.
Dear world, my love, you see an overdramatic child
with the talent to rile
up drama
but what I see is the truth because I have lived it
What I see is a world that can never compare to me.
Sincerely,
E
